YOUR OPINION

So, I've just finished this hawk  piece of beadwork. It's going to be a bag with the feather being the flap.( the whip stitch and lazy stitch will complete the look.) I'm debating on a couple of things. Should I use black or brown leather? Also, I'm thinking of adding fringe. I haven't made one like that in a long time but I think the gusset style bag would lend itself to a luxurious look if I had a double thickness of fringe. So what do you think? Opinions please...    Thank you!

  1. Black would be my vote, but whatever you end up doing will be absolutely beautiful. can't wait to see it finished with the fringe.

  3. Geezzz...I feel like an outcast! I would pick brown! Only because of the bird appears more brown...Either will be perfect I'm sure!!! Your art is truly wonderful!

  4. Kate, your work is fabulous! Much of my work is also inspired by feathers and raptors, so I really enjoyed this piece. I encourage you to apply to 360 Xochi Quetzal artist residency. I agree that it would be a boon to your work and you would love Mexico if you got selected. Please apply through CAFE: https://www.callforentry.org/ Best of luck! Deborah Kruger

  5. I am late to the party but I like the idea of black leather. It would make the brown bird pop and will go great with that gorgeous gray you have going on. Are you talking about beaded fringe or leather fringe?

  6. Also late to the choices of color and fringe. The bag looks terrific. I am a tapestry weaver who also has challenges with clouds. I recently cut out about 4 inches of a piece just to redo the clouds after going for a walk and liking what I saw better than what I had woven. Even so I am not realistic in my approach. Anyway, shared cloud angst and also interest in Mexican residency. Good luck.
